Casseroles are a favorite dish to prepare for many busy cooks. Derive the ingredients, put them together and pop it in the oven. What could be easier than that? Hamburger casseroles are especially straightforward to make and cost sufficient as well. Here is a formula with two variations for scrumptious hamburger pie.

1 lb. Lean ground beef

1 small can tomato sauce

1 can corn, drained

1 can green beans, drained

6 servings mashed potatoes

Brown ground beef just until pink is gone and season, then drain. Pour into a 3 quart casserole dish. Add tomato sauce, corn and green beans, stirring until well blended. Spoon the mashed potatoes on top of mixture, outside all. Grated Cheddar cheese may be sprinkled on top. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until all has heated through.

Hamburger Pie #2

1 lb. Ground beef

1/2 cup chopped onion

1/2 tsp. Salt

Dash of pepper

1 (16oz.) can cut green beans, drained

1 (10 3/4 oz.) can condensed tomato soup

5 hot cooked medium potatoes

1/2 cup warm milk

1 beaten egg

1/2 cup shredded American cheese

In a large skillet, cook meat and onion until meat is lightly browned and onion is tender. Add salt and pepper. Add drained beans and soup; pour into greased 1 1/2 quart casserole. Mash potatoes while hot; add milk and egg. Season with salt and pepper. Spoon in mounds over casserole. Sprinkle potatoes with cheese. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

While these two recipes are very similar there are minuscule variations to the ingredients. However, both of them are straightforward to make, taste yummy and is a dish that the whole family will love.
